Artist Statement

You can manage colors in a way you can’t manage your life. I've always felt torn between worlds, juggling opposite ends of the spectrum. I explore that in my work by choosing challenging colors and playing them against each other to expose their beauty. My studio atop the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking the Pacific is my sanctuary; it is there that I paint in the sun. The art I create art relieves me and reconnects me with the world. The only evidence of those days are paint stains and canvases filled with explosive color.

I hope my paintings create an intuitive awareness of our connectedness and cut through the boundaries of class or ideology. I am influenced by Motherwell, Rothko, and Franz Kline.
